Leaky Canoe Art Studio began with the goal to make fish and wildlife art for fish and wildlife lovers, and we have stayed true to that mission. Our goal is simple, to make quality art of often understudied species available and affordable.
Wes began painting fish as a donation to a professional fisheries organization, and many of the originals are still donated each year. Some of the earlier fish, like the Striped Bass above, were printed from real fish (gyotaku) and then painted. Many of the newer species are painted from reference fish or photographs. Wes exclusively paints in acrylic and makes everything from the canvas to the frame.
